What a great evening we had Friday at the Florida House Inn!!

Thanks to so many people for making it happen:

The Coordinators: Che, Julia, Susan, Cathy, Emmy Lou, Paran, Ann, John, Chris, Linda Lee, Patrick, Jose & Diane and Joe Warwick and their wonderful staff at the Florida House Inn, all the Restaurant Owners/Managers for their great Food donations plus the many Local Fernandina businesses that gave us Great Door Prizes valued over $1100.

Thanks to all the Students, Sharon Eells, George Langstaff and the Distinguished Panel for the Poster Design Presentation.

The great efforts by the Barbi & Lorum Lum for the T-shirts & Canvass beach-bags and Che for the Final Poster Design.

n the Spotlight this week is the 3rd Annual ORLANDO FILM FESTIVAL, celebrating independent filmmaking throughout exciting venues in downtown Orlando, Florida.Past Orlando Film Festival selections include the Academy Award winning documentary TAXI TO THE DARKSIDE, and 2007 Best Short Film Award Winner PENCIL FIGHTING: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF TEAM BALDERDASH, which has gone on to win more awards on the circuit.Due to generous sponsors, all Orlando Film Festival screenings are free to the attending public, granting exhibiting filmmakers a large audience. All in all, the event is fun-filled, well-attended, and a favorite event of locals and visiting filmmakers, film fans, and celebs.

MISSION AND OBJECTIVE The Orlando Film Festival seeks to inspire student, future and current filmmakers in the art of filmmaking, and to enhance the movie viewing experience in Downtown Orlando through creative, unique and entertaining events.

MORE ABOUT THE FESTIVAL Past participants have been thrilled with their Orlando experiences. Andrew Negrin, executive producer of PENCIL FIGHTING declared that "It was an honor to attend and an even bigger honor to take home the prize of Best Short. It's truly opened up doors..." And filmmakers Doug and Dan Lantz (FROM THE 50-YARD LINE) echo the sentiment: "A big heartfelt Thank You to...the Orlando Film Festival. TO ALL FILMMAKERS:

Congraduations from the Amelia Island Film Festival organizers.

Your film has been accepted for our 2008 Inaugural Season beginning Thursday, September 25 and concluding on Sunday, September 28, 2008 in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

We are planning several events during the Festival including these listed below:

The Festival Gala will be held on Friday evening, September 26 at the Florida House Inn at 20-22 South Third Street in Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach.

The Santa Maria Series of Non-English Films with be showcased all day on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Banquet Hall of the Florida House Inn.

A Filmmakers Reception will be held also on Saturday late afternoon at the Historic Bailey House (the home of Barbara & George Sheffield) on the corner of South 7th and Ash Streets.

President's Choice Sreening on Saturday night at the Palace Saloon Banquet Hall in Downtown Fernandina Beach.


Plus various panel discussions and guest speakers to be scheduled at the Hampton Inn & Suites Conference Rooms at 19 South Second Street Downtown.

I hope that all can join us to celebrate this event with us.

Several area Hotels (so far) are offering AIFF Package Plans for the Festival. These include the Florida House Inn, Hampton Inn on Sadler Road (near the Atlantic Ocean), 1735 B & B with Amelia Island Lodging, and the Hampton Inn and Suites-Downtown Historic District.
